Leaving this Life…
And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people. (Genesis 49:33) …it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)
THE BIBLE, THE BOOK OF GOD, tells us where we came from, what we are doing here, and where we are going. Hollywood is not a good place to find out what you are doing here or your future beyond the grave. The Bible is the only book that speaks the future with authority. Each one of us is here for only a short time. A preacher asked a friend what the death rate was in his town. He replied: “One death per person.” When it’s your turn, are you ready?
WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF AMERICA'S FAREWELL TO SENATOR JOHN McCAIN. I’m including a link to Senator McCain’s farewell letter he wrote to America. The letter speaks of his love for America and his life that was well-lived. McCain was a true patriot but he was not always a conservative ally. I wish he and President Trump had buried the hatchet. The flag should fly at half-mast to honor this man. I must be faithful to the Word of God and remind us all that loving our country does not entitle us to a place in Heaven. Dying in battle to defend this wonderful country does not buy a ticket to Heaven.
JESUS SAID: Enter ye in at the strait(narrow) gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there-at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
HERE IS THE GOSPEL: For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1Corinthians 15:3-4) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
DO I HEAR SOMEONE SAYING, “Hey, I’m broadminded! I don’t like talk about a narrow gate?” Well, friend, I sure don’t want you working on my car or doing brain surgery on me. I want a narrow-minded surgeon working on me, a surgeon that understands precision. No thank you for a surgeon that does surgery just any old way. When we leave this life, we want a hope that is sure and not maybe-so.
MY FIRST WIFE, SHIRLEY, LEFT THIS LIFE IN HER SLEEP AT AGE 49. Our Great Granddaughter, Riley Clarke died at 15 months. You may think you have everything figured out, but you don’t. You may think you’re smart enough to live your life without God’s help, but you’re not. When you leave home, every morning, don’t leave mad at somebody in the family. The next time you see them might be in the funeral home. And another thing: when you leave home, make sure you’re ready to die, yourself.
PRESIDENT JOHN ADAMS AND PRESIDENT THOMAS JEFFERSON were arch enemies for a while but by writing letters to each other after they retired, they became strong friends. They died the same day: July 4, 1826, fifty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
I WAS SAVED IN OCTOBER 1943 AT AGE NINE IN A BEAN MARKET in Mountain City, Tennessee. Ever since that night, I have treasured the day I will be leaving this life for my home in Heaven. For that reason, one of my favorite songs is: “This World is Not My Home.” Family and friends are crossing over ahead of me. But my angel will come in his own good time.
EVERYBODY IS GOING TO CROSS THE RIVER. EVERYBODY! It’s a matter of “when” and “where” you are going when you cross the river. Jesus said:… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
A STONE WATER CONDUIT WAS BEING BUILT OR REPAIRED THAT FED THE POOL of Siloam. Supporting towers were constructed to bear the weight of the stone waterway. They built scaffolds around the tower for the workmen to climb on. One day, one of those unfinished towers fell and killed eighteen workers. It was noised abroad that those men must have been bad sinners for God to allow them all to be killed like that. Jesus addressed that idea one day in His preaching:
Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:4-5)
…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) (2Corinthians 6:2) Ω

A Good Verse to Memorize:
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? (Luke 24:31-32) (Write verse on scrap of paper and put in your pocket to memorize.)
